L’émirat d’Abou Dhabi a annoncé, lundi, le lancement de la construction de Masdar, une ville entière sans impact négatif sur l’environnement.
Masdar, "la source" en arabe, devra accueillir 5 000 personnes dès 2015, et devenir ainsi une vitrine mondiale des technologies propres existantes.
Pour un budget de 15 milliards de dollars, les architectes du cabinet britannique Foster and Partners ont imaginé une ville ex nihilo.
Protégée des vents du désert par des murs, du soleil par l’étroitesse des rues, de la chaleur par un réseau de cours d’eau, la ville devra avant tout économiser l’énergie. Utiliser le moins possible d’eau issue du dessalement de l’eau de mer notamment, en préférant le recyclage des eaux usées. Eaux usées qui serviront à cultiver les biocarburants qui remplaceront les carburants fossiles. Pour le transport des habitants, priorité est donnée aux modes de déplacement ‘doux’ : marche, vélo, facilités par l’accessibilité des activités.
Pour les compléter, des transports en communs non polluants.
Pour l’énergie, l’énergie solaire, thermique et photovoltaïque sera bien entendu à l’honneur dans un pays à fort ensoleillement. Ressource abondante, complétée par l’éolien, la géothermie, l’énergie issue de la mer ou encore l’hydrogène.
Enfin, recyclage et séquestration du CO2 finiront d’annihiler tout rejet de carbone.
Un projet ambitieux, que financent les actuels pétrodollars du Golfe, ainsi que le fonds mondial pour la nature WWF.

C’est un projet qui a l’air génial, peu être la réponse à la ville écologique tant espérée. Mais la question se posera au niveau de sa durabilité, sera elle accessible à tous (prix) ? En tout c’est un projet qui donne envie de le défendre et qui je l’espère en inspirera d’autre… Je suis urbaniste et il faudrait plus d’initiative de ce genre en France. Super le projet – mais tout de même, ne serait-ce pas la création pure et simple d’un nouveau “paradis fiscal” dont on avait dit: plus jamais?? Je trouve ca assez impressionnant comme projet. J’arrive meme pas a me dire si ca me plait ou non. J’aimerais que quelqu’un me remette le contexte de cette ville et du pays. Il y aurait pas d’autre gens à loger dans ces pays avant de leur imposer un tel progrès? Si c’est le désert cela ne va’t’il pas en contradiction avec la nature? ? ? ??? ?????
Alors, ce projet est reporte a 2018. It est tres ambitieux et superbe sur le papier mais le souci est le cout! et en ce moement il y a d’autres priorites dans la region. le souci aussi est que les Emirats voudraient se positionner comme producteur d’energie propore comme l’energie soilaire mais ils sont mis a rude epreuve avec la concurrence chinoise qui produit a tres bas prix. Bref l’idee est superbe mais il y a encore du chemin a faire
