| IRVING, Texas Qatar Petroleum et Exxon Mobil Corporation ont annoncé aujourd’hui que Qatar Petroleum avait offert sa participation dans le projet de gaz Barzan et des droits de participation dans toutes les phases futures du projet à ExxonMobil Middle East Marketing Ltd.
Parallèlement à ces discussions, les deux entités ont décidé unanimement de ne pas poursuivre le projet GTL (gas-to-liquids, ou la conversion du gaz naturel en carburant liquide) mais de s’attaquer à la place au développement du projet Barzan dans le champ Nord. La phase initiale du projet Barzan fournira du gaz domestique afin de répondre à la croissance des infrastructures et de l’industrie qataris. Qatar Petroleum et ExxonMobil ont convenu de former une société en participation pour superviser le développement du projet. « Le projet Barzan revêt une importance stratégique pour le Qatar », a déclaré Son Excellence Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, second vice premier ministre, ministre de l’Énergie et de l’Industrie du Qatar et président de Qatar Petroleum. « Nous accueillons avec plaisir la participation d’ExxonMobil au projet. » Stuart McGill, vice-président directeur d’Exxon Mobil Corporation, a ajouté : « Nous comprenons le statut prioritaire du projet Barzan pour l’État du Qatar. Nous sommes fiers d’avoir été la seule compagnie pétrolière internationale choisie pour participer au projet Barzan et nous sommes impatients de poursuivre notre fructueuse collaboration avec Qatar Petroleum. » Qatar Petroleum et ExxonMobil ont signé une déclaration de principes sur la participation pour le projet Barzan et un protocole d’accord (HOA, Heads of Agreement) pour toutes les phases futures du projet Barzan. La phase initiale du projet Barzan devrait rapporter environ 1,5 milliard de pieds cubes par jour de ventes de gaz avec le lancement prévu pour 2012. |
